Ethio Telecom itself also has seen a couple of developments in the past week. The state-owned telecom operator has joined GSMA's Open Gateway APIs Initiative, enabling developers and cloud providers to enhance and deploy services rapidly across operator networks. Read More.
In addition, Ethio Telecom has signed a Master Frame Agreement (MFA) with Huawei to deploy 500 rural mobile sites in remote areas of the country, bringing much-needed connectivity to underserved communities. Read More.

In the education space, edtech startup Muyalogy has surpassed 55,000 users and is setting its sights on accreditation and job opportunities. Muyalogy offers courses in Amharic, providing an alternative for students who may face challenges accessing international platforms.
The week also brought good news for insurtech startups, with four local startups emerging as the winners of the inaugural cohort of the Bimalab Ethiopia Insurtech Accelerator. The winners are HuluCares, CICO, Equb, and Lersha.
Finally, Metahu Delivery, formerly known as Metahu Addis, has undergone a rebranding and is unveiling new features in its revamped app.
