Facebook Marketplace Comes To Ethiopia Facebook has announced the rollout of Facebook Marketplace in Ethiopia, a product on Facebook that offers a convenient destination where people can discover, buy, and sell items from others in their local communities.The Marketplace is being rolled out in Ethiopia gradually and will be available to all by the end of November this year. Amole - Dashen Bank Launches Contactless Prepiad CardsAmole and Dashen Bank has partnered with two MIDROC technology group members, Queens Supermarket and Addis Home Depot, to launch a new e-payment gift card that is implemented through Amole (Dashen’s digital banking system).The Cards, which are contactless, has an embedded chip. Mastercard Foundation Is Deepening its Engagement With Ethiopia
The Ministry of Innovation and Technology and the Mastercard Foundation announced the launch of a project that will support the development of ‘Citizens COVID-19 Response Data-Driven Health Informatics Portal’.
This platform will serve as a single unified portal to integrate and publish information on government interventions on COVID-19 at the national and regional level, and facilitate information flow to citizens on all government COVID-19 responses. Learn more.
Indian University To Set Up Business Incubation Center in Ethiopia Indiana University, with a 500,000 USD it gained from US Embassy in Addis Ababa is set to establish business incubation centers at Bahir Dar and Debre Markos Universities.
The incubation centers to be opened under the program entitled “Partnership in Business Entrepreneurship and Leadership Transformation” (PiBELT) will serve as a model in supporting a stronger innovation ecosystem across the country according to a report from Fana.
