Digital Ethiopia 2025The final version of the Digital strategy that aims to transform Ethiopia's Digital Economy by 2025 is published. With the title “Digital Ethiopia 2025- A Digital Strategy for Ethiopia Inclusive Prosperity” , the government developed the manual to commit “to investing in research and development of future and emerging technologies as well as creating an enabling environment for courageous, innovative, and committed people to develop new businesses, services, and jobs.” You can download the strategy document here.  

BlueSpace Brings New CEO and Opens a Second Office 

BluSpace, one of the main co-working space in Addis, assigns Ebenezer Degu as CEO. Ebenezer previously worked for WeWork in NewYork City, Amsterdam, Berlin, and Johannesburg. bluSpace also announced they launched their second co-working Space. Ebenezer is expected to grow and expand the blueSpace. Check the press release here.

Chewata Awaki Launches a Virtual Gaming Festival 

Chewata-con, a virtual event hosted by Chewata Awaki, D5, and Goethe Institute, is the first gaming festival celebrating the gaming culture in Ethiopia.

According to The Reporter, the event that will have a gaming competition, panels, and discussions on the gaming industry, will also witness the official formation of the first Ethiopian Games Association. Read more. 

Government Digitization Initiatives 

Digital Monitoring System for Firearms tracking - The Ethiopian government has developed a digital monitoring system that will help authorities control firearms movement in the country Read more

Civil Service Digitize its Systems - Ethiopian Civil Service Commission is implementing an integrated civil service management information system that puts the commission database and service online. Ethiopian Technology Company called Cluster Computing developed the system. Read more 

ATA's IVR/SMS System Combating Desert Locust Invasion in Ethiopia 

Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Agency has reported around 220,00 voice & text messages from 15,000 DA & 600 agricultural experts via 8028 Farmers Hotline Survey platform about the occurrence of locust invasions. ATA is also analyzing the collected messages and sending out the approved messages through 8028 hotline, WhatsApp, & Regional Radios. 

Electronic Transaction Regulation

The Draft Electronic Transaction Regulation document which is the follow-up to the Electronic Transaction Proclamation issued a few months is available and you are requested to provide feedback to MiNT.
