Expanding Ethiopia’s Agent Networks Through Innovative Digital Solutions
An article by UNCDF discusses the role of agent networks in expanding access to digital financial services (DFS) to underserved populations in Ethiopia, through the example of the "Tegera" project, a collaboration between UNCDF and Highlight Trading.The pilot project, which is the result of a collaboration between UNCDF and Highlight Trading, aims to identify, train, and monitor 2,000 agents, 50% of whom will be women or under the age of 35, and onboard 50,000 customers with the same demographic focus.The project also plans to implement a digital agent management tool and improve digital literacy among agents and customers.
